New Necklace Display!

I went to Michael’s today. Always dangerous. Normally I go overboard and buy everything I see that I think might even be a little bit useful to me, so I tried to restrain myself this time. I am proud to tell you that I spent under $20 this trip! I bought two new bottles of paint which I’m psyched to try out because I’m actually really horrible at mixing my own colors. The true treasure of this particular trip, however, is the most wonderful necklace display I have ever seen.

About a year ago, I bought myself a traditional black velvet necklace display only to find that my camera panicked when photographing a piece on a totally black background and left it devoid of any color other than blinding white. Needless to say, I retired that display to holding a nice necklace of mine on a bookshelf. So you must understand how thrilled I was to see a necklace display covered not in black velvet, but rustic, rough, elegant, perfect, loose weave cotton. I’m over the moon and I’m so excited to start taking photographs of my products on this baby! I deem her Victoria the Grand. And I love her.

Also, I can hook earrings in to take pictures of the whole set!

That beautiful beast you see in the background is Rupert the guardian of the printer. My Granny gave him to me for Christmas. 😀

The Week Before Spring Break

Posted on

I can’t believe it! Spring Break is NEXT WEEK! I’m not sure where this semester has gone, but it’s just flying by and I feel like I’ve gotten nothing done this year! I’ve been spending my free time perusing Etsy shops as well as Tumblr blogs which feature art and it’s getting me in such a creative mood!

I’m sorry I’ve been a little low on new items recently. I tend to work in spurts and then go through long dry spells. I’m thinking about setting myself on a schedule where I make at least one piece every other day. This whole small business thing is so much fun, but I’m SO bad at it!

However, I am excited to tell you that my new business cards finally got here! I had temps for a while that were a free design from Vistaprint, but I finally gave in and made a design of my own and ordered some that were not quite as free.

Recognize the tentacles on the back? And that’s my tiny octopus logo on the front! Needless to say, I’m pretty dang excited about these and I wish I could hand them out to everyone without being pushy and obnoxious. Haha.

Keep an eye out for a push of new items leading up to Spring Break! Hopefully I’ll have some more up soon.

Leroy the Octopus Pendant

Posted on

I’d like to introduce Leroy the darling little octopus pendant! This fella is a one of a kind piece of art handmade from polymer clay and painted with acrylic paints. I’ve applied several layers of protective finish to preserve his colors from daily wear and tear and it also gave him a little bit of a gloss as though he’s just climbed out of the ocean!

Leroy and his pals are all for sale at Tiny Octopus Designs and through the month of February I’m having a 15% off sale with a coupon code! The code can be found at my Facebook Page and will be valid until March 1st so use it while it’s there!

Something about the way Leroy is posed makes it look like he’s sucking his thumb while gazing out across the horizon. Am I the only one who sees this?

Mack the Adorable Jellyfish Pendant

Posted on

Mack is one of the newest additions to my Etsy shop and she is oh so sweet and lovable! She’s a one of a kind piece handmade out of polymer clay and painted with acrylic paints. I’ve added several layers of a protective finish to protect her colors from daily wear and tear.

I don’t know what it is about jellyfish, but I always feel the need to give them a little bit of blush. No idea why. Just do. So she may look a little shy, but she’s a great little addition to any wardrobe.

Check out her listing at Tiny Octopus Designs!

This is Cassidy the cute little squid. He’s handmade by myself out of Super Sculpey polymer clay and painted with acrylic paints. I had a lot of fun painting this guy, so his colors are a bit peppier than most. I’ve just listed him on my Etsy shop along with all of his friends!
