New Necklace Display!

I went to Michael’s today. Always dangerous. Normally I go overboard and buy everything I see that I think might even be a little bit useful to me, so I tried to restrain myself this time. I am proud to tell you that I spent under $20 this trip! I bought two new bottles of paint which I’m psyched to try out because I’m actually really horrible at mixing my own colors. The true treasure of this particular trip, however, is the most wonderful necklace display I have ever seen.

About a year ago, I bought myself a traditional black velvet necklace display only to find that my camera panicked when photographing a piece on a totally black background and left it devoid of any color other than blinding white. Needless to say, I retired that display to holding a nice necklace of mine on a bookshelf. So you must understand how thrilled I was to see a necklace display covered not in black velvet, but rustic, rough, elegant, perfect, loose weave cotton. I’m over the moon and I’m so excited to start taking photographs of my products on this baby! I deem her Victoria the Grand. And I love her.

Also, I can hook earrings in to take pictures of the whole set!

That beautiful beast you see in the background is Rupert the guardian of the printer. My Granny gave him to me for Christmas. 😀

Mack the Adorable Jellyfish Pendant

Posted on

Mack is one of the newest additions to my Etsy shop and she is oh so sweet and lovable! She’s a one of a kind piece handmade out of polymer clay and painted with acrylic paints. I’ve added several layers of a protective finish to protect her colors from daily wear and tear.

I don’t know what it is about jellyfish, but I always feel the need to give them a little bit of blush. No idea why. Just do. So she may look a little shy, but she’s a great little addition to any wardrobe.

Check out her listing at Tiny Octopus Designs!

This is Cassidy the cute little squid. He’s handmade by myself out of Super Sculpey polymer clay and painted with acrylic paints. I had a lot of fun painting this guy, so his colors are a bit peppier than most. I’ve just listed him on my Etsy shop along with all of his friends!

Good News!

I’m so excited! I stopped by a local bead shop here in town to see what kinds of bulk chain they carried thinking that they’d probably be much more expensive than what I could find online. However, a good friend who I haven’t seen in a year ended up being behind the counter and she was so helpful! She was patient with me (which was great because I was very indecisive) and helped me pick out the perfect chain.

I ended up choosing the beautiful chain pictured below (sorry for the crap pictures) which is silver plated so it was fairly inexpensive. This means… *drumroll please* …I can offer chains FREE with the purchase of any pendant! I’m so excited, you have no idea. I’ve wanted to include complimentary chains for so long, but haven’t been able to afford it. Thank you Heart Bead!

So come on by my Etsy shop and get your Tiny Octopus Designs pendant with complimentary chain!

A Preview of Pieces to Come

Posted on

We have had no sunny days here recently and so I haven’t gotten the chance to haul my photography stuff out into the back yard to take pictures of my newest pieces for Etsy. In lieu of good weather, I’ve decided to do some pre-Etsy advertising until I can take some better quality pictures. Forgive the glare and background. I’ll have a proper light box soon, but this will have to do for now.

Anyway, enjoy these pictures of the upcoming pieces that will hopefully be up in my shop soon!

Barney the Green Octopus

This is Barney the little green octopus pendant. I think he looks like an alien watermelon, but he’s lovely nonetheless. I’d have to say he’s my favorite out of my most recent series of cephalopods. He and his buddies can be found for sale at Tiny Octopus Designs.
